“Peaceful hideaway in the Suffolk countryside”
“A lovely little cottage, situated behind the owners’ house, but with its own private garden. Ideal location for the main towns nearby and for trips to the coast. Quaint but comfortable with all the facilities required for simple self-catering and wonderfully helpful hosts. This was our second visit, as we had enjoyed it so much previously.”

“Lovely field walks right on the doorstep”
“The Gig House was a great place to stay. Ian and Janine were helpful hosts. The accommodation was thoroughly clean and comfortable, and in a good location to travel around different parts of Suffolk. Lovely field walks right on the doorstep – ask Ian for details!

“Lovely comfortable cottage with everything you need in a perfect location to explore Suffolk. King size bed very comfortable.”

“Quiet and restful”
“The cottage had mostly everything we needed and was quiet and restful. Not having been in that part of Britain before we found many historic sights to explore and National Trust places to visit. It is close enough to the coast for day trips and we enjoyed the RSPB sights particularly. It was good to have a comfortable place to come back to after a pleasant day out.”

“Pleased with every aspect”
“This cottage is just the right size for two and has a very private garden. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed ready to hand. The bedroom had plenty of storage room and a very comfortable bed. Bed linens were good quality and towels soft and fluffy. We were very pleased with every aspect of this property.”

“All we had expected and more”
“The Gig House was all we had expected and more – a lovely little property set in a wonderfully peaceful and quite idyllic location. It was well appointed and had everything we needed for our stay, with some thoughtful touches. The lovingly tended private garden at the back was a real plus and we could also just step out onto a footpath across the fields for some exercise. Added to that was the attention of our hosts in the adjoining farmhouse, who were very helpful in giving local information and advice. Altogether a place definitely worth another visit.”

“It is a lovely, relaxing space”
“We had a wonderful holiday at the Gig House. It is a lovely, relaxing space. And quiet, which is something not always easy to find. Beautifully appointed and a sweet private garden. The weather being super, the doors were open out onto the garden most of the time. The walks in the nearby field are glorious. England at her best. Thank you Ian & Janine for a beautiful stay at your lovely Gig House. We had a super holiday and it was beautifully quiet and restful. We look forward to visiting again and exploring more of the glorious walks nearby.”

“The accommodation was spot on..Just the job!”
“We had a lovely, peaceful Christmas stay at The Gig House. The accommodation was spot-on; a spacious lounge/diner with a wood burner and a Christmas tree, good sized bedroom with plenty of storage, a modern fully fitted kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. The Gig House was clean and had everything we needed. Just the job!”

“A perfect place to stay..”
“We wanted to spend time in Suffolk to visit various places locally and the Gig House was perfectly placed for the area we wanted to explore. It is spacious, comfortable and fully equipped with everything you could need. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. Set well back from the road the accommodation is incredibly quiet and peaceful , the perfect place to relax after a busy day. There’s a good sized TV, DVD player (and some films!) and good reliable WiFi access. There isn’t a pub within the village itself and we chose to self cater. The well equipped kitchen made this an easy task with everything you could need at hand. We had a lovely week at the Gig House, when we return to Suffolk we know where we will be staying…”

“The Gig House is a very cosy place to stay, surrounded by wonderful Suffolk countryside”
“The house is well equipped with plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery and glasses. There is also a dishwasher and washing machine should you need them. We only stayed for 4 nights and spent our time going out to visit local sites such as Framlingham (for it’s castle and the market in the town centre – main one is on Saturdays and smaller one on Tuesdays), Alton Water (great for a walk or cycle ride, although beware the hills!), Aldeburgh (lovely walk along the promenade), Snape Maltings (wonderful collection of shops and galleries right by the river with plenty of parking – next time we’ll check what’s on at the concert hall and try to book an evening out), Southwold (the town itself is lovely but if you prefer a traditional British seaside experience, then visit the pier. There is also a long promenade beside the beach huts and a marina). The Gig House is surrounded by beautiful countryside but our short stay and weather didn’t give us the opportunity to explore it properly.”

“Look no further”
“Perfectly situated for exploring Suffolk and nearby areas. There is everything you need in the Gig House and Ian and Janine are always available if you require anything. There are many attractions to visit close by and the coastal towns of Southwold & Aldeburgh are well worth a visit. Needham Lake is a lovely spot which is beautifully kept, free parking and areas for children, the public toilets were very clean and they have hot water! Worth a special mention is the vegetarian restaurant The Walnut Tree just up the road on the A140. Food and service was excellent but you do need to book. Neither Ian or Janine were going to be there when we arrived but Ian took the trouble to contact us several days beforehand to make arrangements about handing over the keys. Also if you are staying in the summertime the garden is an added bonus.”

“Thank you so, so much for being such kind and hospitable hosts!”
“The Gig House is a comfortable and well-appointed dwelling, situated within easy reach of the A140 and the heart of Suffolk. The accommodation is warm and cosy and features everything that you could possibly need for a short stay or break. There is a private garden with seating to the rear and convenient parking for 2 or more cars at the front of the property. The wifi connection is reliable, though, given its rural location, a mobile signal is sometimes difficult to obtain, depending on the network. All-in-all, The Gig House offers all the conveniences of a modern holiday home in a rural setting with the added bonus of two of the friendliest and most accommodating hosts one could hope to meet.”

“We really loved our stay at Gig house made even better by the decorations and Christmas feel, thank you!”
“The photos do not do this lovely place justice! We have just returned from a lovely New Year get away where we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing few days with walks and beautiful countryside all around. Ian met us as we arrived and was very friendly and welcoming. We were left to our own devices but knew that he was available if necessary and we had a lovely chat when we handed the keys back. The accommodation is clean, cosy and comfortable – do not be deceived by the size of the wood burner, it is super effective!

“Thank you for a lovely stay. It was perfect for relaxing and getting away.”
“This is a really lovely and spacious getaway in the grounds of a nice house in a quiet Suffolk village. It is ideally suited as a base to explore this part of Suffolk. It is a short drive to the coast and some pleasant historical towns nearby. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need to cook a meal. Ian and Janine were available if needed but kept to themselves. Overall a great stay!”

“A lovely hideaway for a relaxing break”
“Ian and Janine were perfect hosts: friendly and full of information about the surrounding area. I don’t drive, and Ian very kindly ferried me to and from Stowmarket station over what must have been a busy time over Christmas for them both.
Lots of lovely walks to do, and the cottage was very well equipped and maintained. I had a great, restorative break.”

What can l say, we arrived friday late afternoon, we were welcomed by Ian who had the house lovely and warm, with a wood burning fire, which we didn’t have to relight during our stay of 3 nights, it was lovely and clean, felt really homely, everything you needed, a lovely little garden, with a lot of bird activity which was lovely, to be honest if you didn’t want to venture out you could curl up with a book or dvds it felt that cosy, would like to stay in the summer as it would be lovely to open the french doors and enjoy the garden, it was peaceful it was a shame to leave. They truly have got it spot on, wish other places we stayed at were that good, clean, helpful, homely and friendly would highly recommend. it is great for couples.

“A real gem ..”
“We have just returned from a week’s stay at the Gig house. Full of character, extremely comfortable and clean as well as being very well equipped, this cottage offers an excellent base for exploring Suffolk. The owners Ian and Janine are really kind, helpful yet unobtrusive as well as being informative about the attractions of the area. We really enjoyed our stay at this ‘real gem’ and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family. We look forward to returning in the future.”

“Excellent cottage – wonderful people”
An excellent 2-person “get away from it all” cottage. Tucked away at the rear of the owner’s extensive farmhouse, The Gig House offers all anyone could want from a smaller style of property – which is actually a lot larger than it first appears. Because the cottage is so well shielded and set back, one could easily feel miles out in countryside – aided by a very secluded and well-kept garden.
The cottage offered everything we needed and more besides – a well equipped kitchen, a good sized and comfortable bed, a comfortable lounge – and – best of all – everything worked – first time. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Ian contacted us almost as soon as we had booked with all the details on key pickup etc., and invited us to park right outside of the cottage. The property even has a turning area to avoid having to reverse out onto the road.
The Gig House has been sympathetically converted from its original use and retains some of the original brick flooring, complemented by carpeting in the lounge and bedroom. If the weather is kind – as it was for us – there is a large set of french doors that can be opened onto the garden.
Although there are limited shopping facilities in the village itself, there is an extensive range of shops associated with a park just outside the village around 20 minutes walk from the cottage.
In short, The Gig House is an ideal property for exploring Suffolk, which offers a lot in terms of history and arts and we would have no hesitation in giving our highest recommendation to this cottage.

“The secluded private garden was an added bonus”
“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cottage. It was as the listing described; in addition I would stay it was more spacious than expected with bags of character and charm. The secluded private garden was an added bonus. The owners were very welcoming and provided information on how to get there and were there to greet us on arrival. They made sure that my husband had secure storage for his cycle which meant he could make the most of the excellent cycling country. The cottage was well maintained and spotlessly clean. The kitchen facilities were good too. The area is very beautiful, village and towns full of historical and architectural interest. I would recommend trips to the coast, Southwold, Aldbrough, Orford, Thorpeness and inland: Debenham, Woodbridge, Lavenham especially the food at The Great House Restaurant. A trip to Shawsgate vineyard is well worth a visit even if you are not a wine lover. We would recommend the cottage and hope to return.”

“Erholsamer Urlaub in gemütlichem Cottage”
We spent two relaxing weeks in this cozy cottage. It corresponds in every respect the description and the photos from the display. The owners, who also speak German, are very nice and have welcomed us warmly. We immediately felt at home. The cottage is very clean and nicely furnished. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for a 2-person household. The icing on the cake is the small dishwasher. Also, its garden area invites you to relax. We highly recommend this cottage without hesitation. From here, visitors can easily reach all attractions in East Anglia. Should the opportunity arise again, we will gladly visit again.”

“Nice stable conversion. Well furbished. The owners were very nice to talk to.”

“Loved the cottage, so comfortable and well equipped and the bed – a king size – was extremely comfortable. We found the location perfect – many wonderful places to visit within around 20-30 mile radius. Ian and Janine were very helpful and we would love to return some day.”

“A great holiday in England’s green and pleasant land”
For our thirteenth holiday in East Anglia we spent a little less than a fortnight (end of April-beginning of May) in the Gig House at Orchard Farm. The least we can say is that we had a wonderful stay in this spacious, comfortable, tastefully furnished and very well-equipped cottage. It is not cluttered with unnecessary gadgets and everything is in perfect working order.
The excellent bed provides for long nights’ sleep, that is until “the dawn chorus”, which is part of the countryside experience!
The weather was a bit on the rainy side so we mainly enjoyed the garden from the inside, that is the peaceful view from the sitting-room.
As we travel to Britain to speak English and meet local people it was great to have the owners next door. Ian and Janine, who are very knowledgeable about the area, gave us plenty of useful advice and tips about some “hidden gems” in the vicinity.
In short, the Gig house is the perfect rural retreat, away from it all and at the same time very close to everything -the location is perfect for touring East Anglia – so we would not have the slightest hesitation whatsoever to recommend it strongly.”

“Perfect Location, Perfect cottage”
Stayed here with a view to exploring many of East Anglia’s places of interest. We found the cottage to be ideally located for all the places we visited – most being within a 30 mile radius. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and the owners were very friendly and helpful. We would most definitely stay again if visiting the very beautiful county of Suffolk.”
